The increasing complexity of dynamic networked ecosystems—encompassing cloud infrastructures, Internet of Things (IoT) environments, and enterprise networks—has amplified the need for intelligent security mechanisms capable of identifying threats before they cause significant damage. Conventional reactive and signature-based detection systems often fail to recognize evolving and stealthy attack patterns in such environments. To address this limitation, this paper presents a unified artificial intelligence framework for proactive threat detection that leverages a hybrid Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)–Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM) architecture enhanced with an attention mechanism. The CNN component effectively captures spatial correlations and hidden structural patterns within high-dimensional network traffic features, while the BiLSTM models long-term temporal dependencies to understand the evolution of network behavior over time. An attention layer is incorporated to emphasize critical traffic segments and temporal events that are more indicative of malicious activity, thereby improving early threat awareness and reducing false positives. The unified framework is designed to operate across heterogeneous and dynamic networked platforms, enabling adaptive learning under changing attack conditions. Experimental evaluation using benchmark cybersecurity datasets demonstrates that the proposed approach outperforms existing machine learning and deep learning methods in terms of detection accuracy, robustness, and early identification of complex and zero-day attacks. These results highlight the framework’s effectiveness as a scalable and practical solution for next-generation proactive cyber defense.
