CVG (Coriolis Vibratory Gyroscope) is one kind of sensor in inertial sensors technology for navigation applications in aerospace field. Different factors effecting Q-factor of hemispherical shell are analyzed. Different loss mechanisms are studied and ways to reduce them are presented in this paper. The precessional phenomenon and vibration characteristics of hemispherical resonator shell are investigated in this paper. Thin shell theory and virtual displacement principle are employed to model hemispherical shell. The influence of shell’s geometry parameters on its natural frequency and precessional rate is analyzed. ANSYS-finite element analyzer, is used to analyze the influence of shell’s geometry, physical parameters on optimal Q-factor.
